Thanks to a loaned copy of CRAFT (oh, what a great new zine!) from my pal Vox, I was recently turned onto the double-take-inducing work of Knitta Please. It’s really something else; they have a photostream on Flickr of their guerilla knit cozies for public objects. I covet one of their Knitta T-shirts in a purple medium; raise that Knitta standard high!
Speaking of knitterly threads, though, I’ve long wished to have the cash to indulge in some of Knitty’s stuff from Cafepress, especially the Hardcore and Knit Geek lines. Apparently they don’t have the Yarn Ho stuff anymore…
And in other knitting news, I recently finished my Janda sweater, although I had to do some modifications. It turned out almost as well as I’d hoped and fits nicely:
My next project is a 2×2 rib sweater in the shiny orange Must yarn from Filati FF. The design is for a tank top, but I think I can just whip up some sleeves to make it a more useful garment. The yarn is slippery as ice-covered trees (something we’ve seen a bit of lately here in Michigan) and has a marvelous drape, so I think it will be an attractive piece. The pattern is “2×2 Shell” found in a recent Knit ‘N’ Style magazine. Here’s a shot of the yarn, for an idea of things to come:
